Podcast Academy V
Duke University

February 14-15, 2007
in collaboration with GigaVox

Welcome

On February 14-15, 2007, Information Science + Information Studies (ISIS) at Duke University will partner with GigaVox in presenting Podcast Academy V on the Duke campus in Durham, NC. The conference will highlight academic applications of podcasting, targeting both beginners and experts in the field. We'll focus on both pedagogical and technical considerations, and provide hands-on training as well as best-practice and student showcases.

Duke has been a leader in the academic podcasting arena for several years. Our pioneering Duke Digital Initiative put us on the cutting edge of academic technology when we distributed iPods to all our 1600 frosh in 2004. Since then our iPod intiative has grown to encompass a variety of courses, fields, and pedagogical applications. Come hear from faculty in Information Science + Information Studies, whose curricular innovations using mobile technologies hit Newsweek, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and others. Learn from senior IT adminstrators who grappled with the infrastructure issues associated with distributing iPods, developing streaming services, and negotiating the complex waters between teaching, administration, and technology. Reflect with leaders from our Center for Instructional Technology on how a project goes from a small pilot intervention to a full scale teaching and learning transformation. Hear from faculty and students about their own experiences as media producers and consumers in the context of a residential campus. And--learn from industry leaders how to take your podcasting initiative to the next level.

At Duke the event will take place at the John Hope Franklin Center room 028 and 240.

Pre-registration is required. Registration is FREE to the Duke community.
