Mobile Multimedia Macintosh Cluster (M3C)

DESCRIPTION

The M3C is a mobile multimedia computer cluster that can be configured to take advantage of wireless networking zones in the John Hope Franklin Center. Designed as an experimental facility, M3C enhances teaching and learning in courses that involve digital art and photography, electronic music, digital video, information architecture and design,along with other forms of multimedia development. The M3C is comprised of:

The M3C includes the following:

  • 14 800 MH PowerPC G4 Macintosh wireless-enabled PowerBooks each with 1GB of RAM
  • Bretford Laptop cart

The M3C is the result of a collaboration between Information Science + Information Studies (ISIS), the John Hope Franklin Center, Film/Video/Digital Program, Department of Music, Department of Art & Art History, and Center for Documentary Studies. The M3C has been made possible by grants from the Center for Instructional Technology and Apple Computer.

 

HOURS

The M3Cs are available for check-out Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Please email or see Cristin Paul in JHFC room 220 for access. A Duke ID card is required for collateral.
