VISUALIZING ART, LAW, AND MARKETS

Visualizing Art, Law, and Markets is a collaborative project supported by the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) and supports the work of three graduate students who are using map and text-analysis based visualization tools to analyze art sales catalog and copyright law information to gain a deeper understanding of how social, artistic, economic, and political forces inter-relate to create art markets. The students are directed by Hans van Miegroet in Art, Art History & Visual Studies in their core research. Victoria Szabo from ISIS is the PI on the grant supporting the team's collaboration with scientists in RENCI (Steve Chall) and in Duke's Visualization Technology Group (Eric Monson).
